Tripadvisdor Review – April 2019

Fabulous short break

This is our third stay at la Pergola and was a lovely short break before the Easter rush. We upgraded to half board before we travelled and feel we got value for money. The hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly…

Tripadvisdor Review – April 2019

Wonderful

We stayed here whilst walking the GR221 for a little bit of luxury and that is exactly what we got. Watching the sunset made it extra special.

Booking Review – May 2019

Fantastic apartment and area

Plenty of space in our apartment, very clean with everything we needed, plenty of windows around the apartment letting in a lot of natural light.

Revving up for the Andratx fair

Revving up for the Andratx fair

The Andratx fair is one of the most anticipated annual events in the municipality. It takes place every April and has its origins, like many other fairs in Mallorca, in the livestock and agricultural gatherings that were held once a year in each town on the island.

It's an ideal plan to do with children, as the farmers bring a wide variety of chickens, sheep, and other farm animals, which are proudly displayed as the most authentic representatives of their respective breeds.

Special recommendation: The Tapas Route

Whether at the beginning of your visit to the Andratx fair, halfway through, or at the end, we recommend following the Tapas Route.

This is a journey where the best restaurants in the municipality offer visitors their most emblematic dishes, both traditional Mediterranean cuisine and innovative, avant-garde, or fusion dishes, which also showcase the gastronomic evolution of Andratx and the melting pot of cultures it represents.

Nevertheless, typical products such as empanadas, sobrasada, camaiot, longaniza, and other cured meats, pan con tomate (bread with tomato), a typical farmer's dish, and the finest wines to accompany lunch or dinner will not be missing.

Andratx Fair 2024 Agenda

This year the fair will be held on the weekend of April 7th, and everyone participating is already revving up to offer the best to visitors. From Plaza de España to the streets surrounding the town hall, this event becomes the absolute protagonist.

The livestock part is represented by the main livestock farms and farms on the island, which bring their best animals to exhibit to the public and exchange impressions and advice among themselves.

Agriculture also plays a very important role, and in fact, along with livestock, it was part of the origin of this gathering that was held with the intention of sharing experiences and cases. In this space, the products of the land typical of the time of year are shown, and where the most common vegetables of the cold months begin to become scarce.

Cabbages, cauliflowers, borage, spinach, and chard are starting to give way to a more colorful offering: tomatoes, carrots, peppers, eggplants... which are the undisputed basis of the island's gastronomy.

At La Pérgola, we love to advise our guests to come and discover this fair, and we also do it because it is an opportunity to get to know the town hall and its wonderful gardens.

Craft stalls are set up in them, forming a whole market that also invades the streets surrounding the town hall. It's the perfect occasion to get lost in search of the perfect earrings, the most awaited bag, the ceramic pieces that we'll place in the kitchen, and a long list of discoveries.

The day is always enlivened by folk groups showcasing the typical popular dances of the islands, equestrian displays, some of the most anticipated, and parades and processions that liven up the party and invite everyone to join in and repeat this experience year after year.

Which is your favorite municipal fair? Have you visited them all? In this post, we give you some ideas to go, from weekend to weekend, and from town to town.
